This is where the game school all started. With our roots in education both mainstream and special education - we have seen how empowering and of course fun, it can be for children to learn how to prepare and cook their own food.

Each session will look at the preparation and eating of seasonal, local game that is available to us depending on the time of year - this could be grey squirrels, rabbits, fish, pigeons, crayfish etc. As well as the preparation, we will also cover why we might need to cull some animals for example, in the case of grey squirrels and crayfish. These sessions are very much about learning and information, we are not here to tell people what they should and shouldn’t be eating…there is enough of that kind of thing already and none of it is particularly useful.

These sessions will involve the use of knifes and fire, we will be skinning, gutting and butchering game animals. It is a necessary part of the learning process and we do it with the utmost respect for the quarry we're eating. The children can get as involved as they like or watch and learn there is absolutely no pressure for them to do anything.

These sessions are free (donations are welcome but not expected) and all about getting involved. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Details of times and locations can be found on our Facebook Events Page.
