This a really practical and informative course run by people who are passionate about game meat and its preparation. The course will be delivered by Matt, one of EGS earliest supporters, a very experienced deer manager, professional butcher and great all-round person.

 

Each participant will get half a carcass of from a local, wild and 100% traceable Exmoor deer to break down into a variety of different cuts from joints and steaks to mince and burgers - under the expert guidance of Matt.

 

You'll leave with everything you prepare, ready to go in the freezer and keep you in tasty meat for weeks to come, so bring a big cool bag to take it all home in. The course will be run indoors but we won't have any heating on, so you'll need to dress comfortably and bring an extra jumper if it's a cold day.

 

Hot and cold drinks will be provided throughout the day, and a lunch of local, wild venison will also be provided.

 

The best bit...this course helps to support the free opportunities we provide to children and families in the local area, so thank you!

 

The course cost is £185 per person - which is excellent value considering the value of the venison you'll leave with would cost significantly more than this if you bought it yourself. If you'd like to bring a partner that is fine, we just ask for a £20 contribution to cover, insurance, cleaning, lunch etc.
